Question: I spoke with someone at XXXX and they were saying that the word "repair" is illegal and other companies couldn't use the word restoration because they weren't accredited by the IRS.
XXXXX is saying that there is 22 by laws and 100 subdivisions under each law that is required before the 3 credit bureau's put anything on your credit profile and if they don't follow each of the 22 laws that they have to delete the items regardless if they are yours or not.
Do you know if that's true?

Answer:
When a company doesn't have a real competitive advantage, such as the proven ability to get results quickly or that they're lead by a nationally recognized credit expert, they sometimes attempt to create an illusion to change the playing field.
This particular company wants you to believe that the credit "restoration" process is exclusively a legal one and they have the only magic pill to cure what ails you.
Ridiculous.
The term credit repair is not illegal. To prove it, here is the Credit REPAIR Organizations Act, which sets forth the laws that apply to credit REPAIR organizations: http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/croa/croa.shtm
As for the IRS claim, well, I'm not an IRS expert but it seems to me the IRS doesn't accredit ANYONE for ANYTHING. Last time I checked they just process tax returns.
Once you find a lie, you have to question the rest of what they’re preaching, right? It's kind of like the faith healer who's gets caught faking a miracle. His message is lost and he's forever labeled a fraud even though he may have done a lot of good for many people in his day.
Just so we're clear, there are NO magic pills. No hackers who can go in a delete your negative records. No "black hat" subliminal messages hidden in our disputes. We simply use the law to defend your rights.
It's a bit more complicated than it sounds, since the credit bureaus, lenders, and collection agents of the world do what they can to stop us and maximize their profits.
Our ability to understand, adapt, and overcome their attempts is what makes some of us more effective than others.
Best,

Like any other business, there are reputable companies and then there are the rip-off artists that give all the others a bad name. If you need the help of a reputable credit repair company check with the Ethical Credit Repair Alliance (ECRA) Consumer Watchdog
